I fell in love with breastfeeding and the science behind it after the birth of my first daughter. However, we had many difficulties early in our nursing journey. I ultimately switched to exclusively pumping around 7-8 weeks postpartum, and continued this until my daughter was 14 months old. In talking with other mothers about their breastfeeding experiences, I quickly learned there are obstacles to breastfeeding for many mothers, and getting the information and support you need is not as easy as it should be. By the time I was pregnant with our second, I was passionate about learning more about breastfeeding and pursued getting my CLC certification. Achieving this goal just fueled the fire! It made me more eager than ever to share breastfeeding education with as many mamas as I could, and to become an advocate for better care for breastfeeding mothers. So, I started my Instagram @madetomotherlactation where I share free breastfeeding information, tips, support, and other motherhood content. Later, I had my second daughter and, through many obstacles in those early weeks, we made it to 20-months of nursing and it was such a joy. Now, we are expecting our third and I’m excited to begin another breastfeeding journey!
